By using an electric cooler, you don’t have to worry about keeping a cooler full of ice cold, just some cool packs. You can rest assured knowing that your food will be cold when you are ready to eat it.
If your campsite doesn’t have electricity, stick with the traditional type of cooler with good insulation (we love our RTIC cooler!). Although this type of cooler won’t stay ice-cold for three days like an electric-powered cooler will, it is significantly more affordable and easy to transport. By keeping your food in a standard ice chest, you can rest assured knowing that your food will stay fresh for about one day of camping (if the weather isn’t too hot).
How to Keep Food Cold while Camping:
Pack a cooler with ice or frozen water bottles
Before heading out to your campsite, put all of the cold food you’re bringing into a cooler with ice or frozen water bottles, and put it as far back in the car as possible so that it doesn’t get too hot during travel time (and potentially ruin your trip before it even starts).
