Additionally, ensure your tent has proper ventilation so that it doesn’t become stuffy and hot at night. Most tents made today come with mesh vents built into the rainfly so you can allow fresh air to flow through your tent while still protecting yourself from bugs, mosquitos, or other pests.
By doing this, your body heat will escape out of the top of the tent rather than accumulating inside of the tent which will make it feel hotter at night.

If you are camping in high altitudes, make sure you are prepared for sudden temperature changes and low overnight temperatures.
If you are uncertain if you will need more warmth, always bring more blankets anyway. It never hurts to have too many, and you’ll always have the option of staying warm!

Consider bringing a fan or heater depending on the weather to help sleep in a tent
If the temperatures are really cold at night, consider bringing a portable propane tent heater. It is never easy to get good sleep when it is freezing at night, and it is even worse when the cold air (and condensation) is blowing directly towards you, reducing your precious body heat.
A heater will solve this problem and make your night more comfortable, while also taking some of the edge off freezing temperatures without having to leave the tent for a fire or portable stove.
You can also consider using a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag to keep you warm. A hot water bottle is a great option to keep you warm at night, but it can take a long time to heat up.
Most people prefer the heating power of a portable propane tent heater over a hot water bottle because they are faster and easier to use – plus you don’t have to constantly monitor the temperature on your water bottle throughout the night.
On the flip side, if it is too hot to sleep comfortably, consider a portable tent fan. Most camping tents come with a small opening at the top to allow for some airflow, but this is usually not enough.
Most people sleep comfortably in cooler conditions so being too hot all night can make it difficult to fall asleep and stay that way. A fan will provide just enough relief without having to leave the tent or deal with any bugs.
Set aside everything you will need at night by your sleeping space
How often have you woken up in the middle of the night needing to drink a gallon of water? Maybe you need a tissue or an extra blanket.

You should keep yourself hydrated during the day, but also avoid consuming too much caffeine or other stimulants which can make it harder to get a good night’s sleep.
Avoiding alcohol can also help with rest, as it can lead to disrupted sleep and even prevent you from getting quality Zzz’s.
If your trip includes a long hike or other physical activity, it is a great idea to refuel at regular intervals during the day because consistent energy is key for comfort and sleeping well. Most importantly, avoid eating too close to bed time in order not to disrupt sleep by digesting food.
