How to Choose a Carry on Bag
Before I go into depth about the best flight bag review, let’s talk about how to choose a carry on bag that is right for you!
Depending on where you are going and how you are traveling, different carry on bags might be better for you!
For example, if you are traveling with a lot of layovers, train travel, or have a lot of walking to do, a backpack will probably be better for you than a tote you need to carry on your shoulder.
However, if you have an easy, one-legged flight, with minimal interruptions and walking, a tote bag could be the perfect option for you.
When searching for luggage or carry on bags, make sure to think of the practicality of your purchase over how it looks. Luckily, these two options below are both cute and practical so you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other!
Before we get started on the top rated carry on bag, I wanted to show you my favorite travel backpack (for those of you looking for something rather than a tote bag).
The reason I love this bag so much (other than the fact that it is SO CUTE!), is because it is small enough to fit under your airplane seat, while being large enough to hold all your stuff!
While small, it is large enough to hold your laptop, amongst other carry on items you might need! It even has a trolley sleeve, which lets you slip the bag over your suitcase handle so it doesn’t fall off as you are rushing through the airport!
Top Rated Carry on Bag
This carry on bag is one of my favorite purchases of all time, so naturally I needed to write the best flight bag review!
It comes in all kinds of colors, and even has some options for shoe compartments on the bottom! In these options, the bottom portion unzips, giving a separate space for shoes (or anything, really!).
This is handy so your shoes don’t get anything dirty inside your bag. You can even put your dirty laundry in this area.
The size of the bag is deceiving. It might look big for a carry on bag, but it fits perfectly under the airplane seat, while holding everything you want it to!
I was surprised by how easily it fit under the seat, even when we flew small planes. It is very durable, so you can squish it into small places, as long as it is not overpacked.
Additionally, this carry on bag has a sleeve on the side for your luggage handle. This is one of my favorite parts of the bag! It slips over the luggage handle and sits on top of your suitcase. No more worrying about your bag falling off!
The sleeve has a zippered pocket, which is perfect for putting important documents like your ID, phone, boarding passes, etc. which can get easily misplaced. I found this helpful when going through the security line.
The zippered pocket allows for a quick place to put your belongings, while still being somewhat hidden.
The inside of the bag has two side pockets, and one zippered pocket. It will hold a lot, including laptops, clothes for a weekend, shoes, books, etc. My carry on bag ended up being heavier than my actual suitcase because of everything I could fit in there!
The bag also comes with an optional shoulder strap.
The best part? It is only $30 on Amazon, which I think is a serious steal, considering the amount of low quality bags around that price. I’ve used this bag dozens of times now, and not a single rip or tear!

What to Pack in your New Carry on Bag:
You can read more about our favorite top carry on items, but here are some more of our favorites! These will help make your travels easier, stress-free, more comfortable, and you will be prepared for anything that comes your way!
I recently purchased this hanging toiletry bag for my trip, and I don’t know how I used to travel without it! It has so many plastic pockets so liquids don’t spill, and even has one with two zippers, so you can open it from either end.
I could fit ALL of my toiletries in this small bag. It made going to multiple hotels and flying easy, as all my things were in one place!
The only items I did not place in the bag was liquids, for easier access during security. However, you could easily fit your small liquid bottles in this bag if you are not flying.
The outside material is very soft and super cute! The pockets are zippers are also very sturdy and durable, and definitely worth the price!

Okay. Don’t laugh- hear me out! I personally bought these for flights because I have some autoimmune issues that impair my circulation. However, I feel like these socks are just generally comfortable! Think of a long hug on your calves and feet.
I wore a pair on one flight, then took them off for another flight to see if I noticed any difference. I did! My feet and legs were much more comfortable with the socks on during a flight and did not get as swollen or fall asleep.
You can also wear these if you are on your feet a lot during the day, going on a long car ride, or for fast muscle recovery after a workout.
Plus, this 3 pack only costs $11.00, which is a steal considering other single pairs on Amazon cost more than that! Give it a try!
Compression socks also claim to help prevent blood clots during flights, which can be super dangerous and even deadly! Learn more ways to help prevent blood clots on long flights!
The footrest hands on the tray table in front of you, and easily folds up for compact packing in your carry on! It has memory foam to keep your feet comfortable and gives your feet and legs some extra support during a long flight.
It will also help keep your feet from falling asleep (especially when paired with the compression socks!)
I have been seeing more and more passengers with this airplane footrest, and I can see why! Have an extra place to put your feet can make all the difference when trying to get comfortable on a long flight!
This portable charger is something I NEVER travel without, and often carry it with me in my purse, no matter where I am!
When on vacation, you will be using your phone a lot to take pictures, look up restaurants, and using the GPS. Chances are, your battery will run out at some point throughout the day.
I have been left with a dead phone too many times during my travels, so now I bring 2-3 of these whenever on vacation. It is small enough to fit in your purse or day bag, and charges your phone very quickly!
I even use these in day to day life, just in case my phone battery gets low. You never know!
This Sky Clip is a pretty cool item to have when on an airplane. Often times while on an airplane, travelers like to watch TV shows or movies on their phones. However, it can get annoying to have to hold your phone up for hours!
This Sky Clip attaches to the tray table in front of you, so you can watch hands-free! You can also place it on the tray table (when it is down), and use the clip as a tripod to hold your phone up.
Your neighbors will be jealous, and you will be flying in style!
